The countdown is on for the start of 2019. I'm sure you're thinking about resolutions. Just like all of the years before, gym sign-ups and diet starts will be at a height in the new year, but progress often halts just as quickly as January ends. If your resolution is to lose weight or to simply get healthier, I'm here to arm you with success so you can stick to your goals for the long run and see the results you want all year long. Here's to a long, happy, and healthy life.
Like it or not, we're headed into a stressful time of year. No matter how awesome Thanksgiving and the winter holidays are (and they are awesome!), they can also create plenty of stress. You might be worried about hosting, what to eat during the holiday, or how to avoid gaining weight. Or maybe you're feeling social or financial stress. Whatever type of stress you're feeling, it's not good for you. After all, stress takes a toll on more than just your mental well being.
The power of positivity is real. That's pretty much how the phrase, "fake it till you make it" came into being. Treating yourself well, believing in yourself, and respecting your journey are all great ways to foster the confidence to live a life you love! If you can take the time and energy to do that, chances are healthy eating habits are not far behind. I travel the globe, attend Pilates classes, and create my own work schedule to stay true to myself. AND I eat healthy meals and snacks.
Confused about vitamins? You're not alone! The regulations on dietary supplements aren't as strict as they are for medications, so it can be challenging to be sure you're buying high-quality products that work. As a dietitian, I like to focus on food first. With the right balance of nutrients on your plate, pills and powders are sometimes completely unnecessary! But other times, they really are needed. Learn which supplements to pick (and which to skip!) if you want to feel your best.
Love dessert but don't want to eat something sugary every night? Here's a fruit-based ice cream (aka nice cream) that's completely fruit based and is full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. It features the Pantone color of the year, ultra violet. You're sure to love it, especially the pretty edible flower topping!
With healthy eating top of mind, January is the perfect time to shake up your meal-prep routine. Personally, I'm all about adding floral flavors and portable, high-protein snacks! Which good-for-you trends will you be adding to your list in 2018?
Want to set resolutions that last beyond the new year? Instead of overhauling your lifestyle all at once, try implementing small, simple changes that add up to better health over time. I'm focusing on eating my vegetables and cooking more meals at home. Want more goal-setting ideas for 2018?

How about some veggies in your smoothie? Wild blueberries and purple cauliflower add brilliant color to this breakfast. Thanks to the folks at Wild Blueberries of North America for sponsoring this post. So when I'm looking to get out the door—or just to my desk!—early in the morning, I like a quick, easy, and nutritious breakfast. That's why I love smoothies so much.
