The Main Ingredient of This Cherry Parfait
You might notice that this parfait includes, well, chocolate. It’s not just any chocolate, though, it’s a specially formulated dark chocolate meant to deliver sustained energy in the form of a chocolate snack.
The chocolate clusters from Good Source Snacks are specially formulated to provide you with a sweet treat without a sugar crash. The snacks are targeted for specific times of day. This type of snacking is known as day-part snacking.
Yes, Chocolate Can be Good for You!
The four different types of chocolate clusters from Good Source Snacks are meant for different times of the day. I used the Morning Jump in this recipe. But hey, if you want an afternoon or evening parfait—or even a dessert recipe—by all means use a different chocolate cluster!
Let me tell you about the different offerings.
This chocolate cluster is meant to deliver sustained energy throughout the a.m. It has a base of antioxidant-rich dark chocolate and contains pea protein for a protein boost as well as green tea for energy without the jitters. It also contains almonds, pomegranate arils, blueberries, and ginger root.
Also with a dark chocolate base, this afternoon snack boasts walnuts, apples, and cayenne pepper. The nuts provide filling fiber, and the cayenne pepper gives a little metabolism boost.
This is a new dark chocolate cluster and is formulated for rejuvenation. The cranberries, cherries, and blueberries provide antioxidants, while the pea protein brings filling protein to snack time.
Hello, relaxing chocolate! This dark chocolate cluster features dried cherries, which contain sleep-helping melatonin, as well as calming lavender. The clusters also contain turmeric, honey, oats, and walnuts.
How to Make a Balanced Breakfast Parfait
I love breakfast parfaits because they’re pretty as well as tasty. And you don’t even need fancy parfait glasses to make this healthy breakfast. I used stemless wine glasses, but mason jars or even martini glasses would also work!
You might have seen those parfait recipes that contain instant pudding mixes, pie filling, and whipping cream. I can assure you that those parfaits are on the decadent side of things. But there is a way to make a nutritious parfait without whipped topping or chocolate pudding that still tastes fabulous!
To start things off with this parfait, I used a base of vanilla bean skyr. You can also use Greek vanilla yogurt. If you didn’t know, skyr is a cultured Icelandic dairy, with a texture very similar to Greek yogurt. It’s a fabulous base because it’s rich in satiating protein.
I added a layer of muesli on top of the skyr. Muesli is similar to granola but tends to slightly less crunchy. It’s one of my absolute favorite breakfast ingredients, and it adds nice texture to a parfait. The muesli I used has raisins and sunflower seeds.
Next, I added a layer of cooked cherries on top of the muesli. Pretty much everything I cook up contains a fruit or vegetable, and this ginger parfait is no different.
I heated up frozen cherries, reduced down the liquid, and let the fruit cool. Cherries are currently in season, so you could fresh ones, if you’d like. The fruit provides fiber, for helping you feel fuller for longer.
Don't have cherries on hand? This parfait would also taste delicious with fresh fruit, such as fresh berries.
I then diced up some Good Source Snacks chocolate clusters. I used the Morning Jump, but you can use any variety you’d like. I added a layer to the parfait. The Morning Jump provides focused energy from green tea, as well as almonds, pomegranate seeds, blueberries, and ginger root.
Finally, to accent the ginger root in the chocolate clusters, I diced up crystallized ginger and added this on top of the chocolate.
Then, I repeated everything to add more layers to my breakfast parfait! I have to say, this recipe is really delicious.
If you want to make the parfait ahead of time, cover tightly and refrigerate overnight. It will taste delicious when you wake up!

Chocolate Parfait with Cherries and Ginger
- 10 ounces frozen unsweetened cherries, halved, divided
- 10 ounces low-fat vanilla bean skyr or Greek yogurt, divided
- 1/3 cup muesli, gluten-free if necessary, divided
- 6 pieces Good Source Snacks chocolate clusters, diced, divided*
- ¼ cup crystallized ginger, diced, divided
- In a non-stick pan over medium-high heat, cook cherries.
- Stir occasionally until liquid begins to reduce, then stir frequently until liquid thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Let cherries cool.
- In two glasses, add a layer of skyr or yogurt. Add a layer of muesli, cherries, chocolate clusters, and ginger.
- Repeat, and enjoy!
